Hi Ginka,
We are going to a wedding in August. My 9 year daughter doesn't like pink and won't wear a dress. What other dressy options are there?
Deborah from Newton
Hey Deb,
That's the beauty of the tunic! They're perfect for the girl who doesn't want to wear a dress, because you can wear them with dressy pants or leggings with ballet flats. Even if you go with a dressier embellished tunic, she can still wear it with jeans to school (and we know you love that!).

Ginka,
I get totally confused when I'm looking at sizes for my children. What is the difference between 4T and 4? Is there a 3x? And what the heck is a 6x? Is it wider than a 6 or longer?
Jane from Wellesley
Hi Jane,
It is confusing. Especially when it seems every designer does things a little differently. Here is everything you need to know about deciphering the sizes:
4T means "4 Toddler" and 4 simply means "4 years." If a designer makes both a 4T and a 4, the 4T will be smaller. Sometimes it's only a tiny bit smaller, sometimes it's a full size smaller, depending on the line (I know, it's complicated, but that's why you have us). Most European designers only use a 4, while Canadian lines use a "3x" which is our 4T.
A 6x is like saying it's a 6 ½. It's a size in-between 6 & 7, and it will be slightly wider and slightly longer than a 6. Like 4T & 4, this is primarily an American thing, as most European lines simply go from 6 to 7 or from 6 to 8.

Hi Ginka,
As a mother of pre-teen girls, I have a very hard time finding clothing that they think is "cool" and I think is appropriate. Any suggestions?
Lisa from Needham
Lisa,
A customer once told me that she always shops here, because we're a store that carries "clothes we can agree on."
We stock the store with brands these girls love (you know, the "cool" stuff): Flowers by Zoe, Sally Miller, Diesel, Ella Moss, Splendid, Miss Me and many others, but we don't carry pieces that are too provocative.
Anytime you feel like something is too revealing, remember that layering is always an option. Add a shrug on top of a strappy tank, or a long-sleeved tee underneath. Put leggings under any skirt or dress. She'll be stylish, fashionable, and cool, while staying totally age-appropriate.
